By Request! − Favo­ri­te works of the inter­na­tio­nal BBO com­mu­ni­ty

With its “Barock&Umzu” con­cert series, the Bre­men Baro­que Orches­tra has not only enter­tai­ned spec­ta­tors at Bremen’s Unser Lie­ben Frau­en Church for over 10 years, through its own strea­ming chan­nel it was also able to attract the atten­ti­on of an inter­na­tio­nal audi­enc that over the last years has grown to be a com­mu­ni­ty of tens of thou­sands of users. Music fans around the world have wat­ched the vide­os pro­du­ced in Bre­men mil­li­ons of times, share and com­ment on the con­tent. With this con­cert they now, for the first time, have the oppor­tu­ni­ty to take part and deci­de about the pro­gram­me which will be play­ed live on stage at the Bre­men con­cert in May 2026.

The sel­ec­tion pro­cess has two pha­ses:

Pha­se 1:
Febru­ary 1 – March 1

In the first pha­se, you can free­ly sug­gest your favo­ri­te pie­ces. You can do this eit­her by com­men­ting on the orchestra’s social media chan­nels or by email. (See below for con­di­ti­ons.)

Pha­se 2:
March 10 – 21

The orches­tra will make a preli­mi­na­ry sel­ec­tion, and from mid-March onwards, you can vote on which pie­ces will be per­for­med and recor­ded on May 30 at the Unser Lie­ben Frau­en Church Bre­men.

The final pro­gram­me will be announ­ced by the end of March.

Con­di­ti­ons for sub­mit­ted requests:

– The work must date from the peri­od bet­ween appro­xi­m­ate­ly 1600 and 1800 and be sui­ta­ble for peri­od instru­ments.
– Only instru­men­tal works or cle­ar­ly defi­ned indi­vi­du­al move­ments may be sug­gested.
– Length: ide­al­ly 3–10 minu­tes.
– No extre­me­ly spe­cia­li­zed instru­men­ta­ti­ons (e.g., 5 oboes d’amore).
– Only one work may be sug­gested per com­ment on social media chan­nels;
the­re is no limit to the num­ber of comm­ents.
– In your mes­sa­ge, you may also include your per­so­nal con­nec­tion to the work, why you par­ti­cu­lar­ly like the music, or, for exam­p­le, why you would like to hear it per­for­med by the Bre­men Baro­que Orches­tra.
