Funiculì, Funiculà! − Award-winning vocal ensemble Quartonal

Barock&Umzu

The Bremer Barockorchester presents an evening dedicated to vocal music for the first time in its Barock&Umzu concert series. Funiculì, Funiculà! features Ensemble Quartonal, one of the most sought-after vocal quartets in Germany. Together with the young singers, the orchestra creates a program full of contrasts.

Ensemble Quartonal has already won first prizes and several audience awards at internationally renowned singing competitions and regularly appears at festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Rheingau Music Festival and the MDR Music Summer. The four singers have traveled to Spain, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Poland, China, Taiwan and Japan for concerts.

On the stage of the Bremer Barockorchester, vocalists and instrumentalists show a broad spectrum of sounds with a programme that comprises works from the 17th to the 20th century. Embedded in the impressive tradition of baroque orchestral music, the range of vocal works in the program extends from the delicate a cappella madrigals of the late Renaissance to the timeless music of the Comedian Harmonists.
